What is the Triple Captain in FPL?
Playing the Triple Captain chip triples your Fantasy Premier League captain’s points, rather than doubling them.
If Mohamed Salah scores 16 points as his base score, he would earn 32 points as your captain.
With the Triple Captain chip activated, Salah’s score would multiply by three to 48 points overall.
How many Triple Captains are available in FPL?
In the 2025/26 season, FPL announced that two Triple Captains would be available – double the usual amount.
FPL managers will get one in each half of the season.
How do you use the Triple Captain chip in FPL?
To use the chip, click on the bar under Triple Captain and save your team to confirm the change. The captaincy logo (c) next to your chosen player’s name will turn from black to white.
Just like the Bench Boost, the Triple Captain can be cancelled so if you activate it, you are always able to revert your decision.
The other two chips, the Wildcard and Free Hit, are irreversible once played.
When should you activate the FPL Triple Captain chip?
The introduction of chips such as Triple Captain, Bench Boost and Free Hit has changed the way in which we approach FPL.
Like most chips, the Triple Captaincy is often used in a double gameweek when a team has two matches within a gameweek.
But with an extra one available in the early part of the season – when there are not expected to be any doubles – FPL managers will have to identify a good single gameweek opportunity.
