I played my Free Hit in Gameweek 4 and it did not work out as planned.
I got 77 points, which is what my actual squad would have scored without the chip. That is how the cookie crumbles.
I Free Hit out Pascal Gross (£5.7m) and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£6.0m) and they produced monster hauls.
That is always the danger with the chip in a single gameweek - you are not only betting on who you bring in, you are betting against everyone you leave behind.
What makes it more frustrating is that one of the teams I backed hardest on the Free Hit was Liverpool and they did absolutely nothing.
Liverpool forgot to attack due to ‘fatigue’ and Fulham decided to be pragmatic. All those upside picks who started against Fulham for nothing.
That said, despite that bad variance, my Free Hit team matched my actual team thanks to Maxim De Cuyper (£4.9m) and Morgan Rogers (£7.7m), which I'll take.
