Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£6.0m) salvaged a bit of dignity for me on Monday night but it was a truly awful gameweek - and delaying the Wildcard has proved costly.
Ben White (£5.5m) went off injured at half-time and a David Raya (£6.0m) penalty save turned that into a massive 13 point swing between the two.
In hindsight, I would have been better off prioritising Maxim De Cuyper (£4.8m) over Morgan Rogers (£7.7m), though the Chelsea man opened the scoring against Hull inside seven minutes.
He had a huge chance to win it late on after Cole Palmer (£9.7m) played him in behind but his effort was too close to Konstantinos Tzolakis (£4.6m), who made the save.
That would have made the Triple Captain call look a whole lot better too.
There was no redemption for Igor Thiago (£7.9m), who had his quietest game of the season so far, managing just one shot.
He did have a late chance to get in behind, but couldn't quite bring the ball under control.
AI transfer recommendations
Moving on to Gameweek 5 then, and Fantasy Football Hub’s AI suggests taking drastic action to get back on track.
It recommends a triple change that includes Morgan Gibbs-White (£8.0m), Josko Gvardiol (£5.7m) and Ezri Konsa (£4.5m).
I’m in agreement that my team needs a fair bit of surgery.
These players are in my thoughts but I have a chip planned for this week.
