When are the FPL blank and double gameweeks in 2026/27?
Blank gameweeks occur when some teams don’t have a fixture, while double gameweeks see sides play more than once.
Typically, these gameweeks are caused by cup matches clashing with planned league games.
Experienced FPL managers often use chips, such as the Triple Captain and Free Hit, in these weeks in order to maximise their effectiveness.
Unless there’s an unexpected event, such as poor weather or even the death of a monarch – which has happened in the recent past – these blanks and doubles tend to occur later in the season.
Fixtures expert Ben predicts the main blanks and doubles will fall in the following gameweeks in 2026/27:
- Blank Gameweek 30 (Carabao Cup final)
- Double Gameweek 32
- Blank Gameweek 33 (FA Cup semi-finals)
- Double Gameweek 35 and/or 36
The fixtures themselves will not be known until nearer the time, with the Carabao Cup final the first milestone to cause a blank.
FA Cup matches will only affect the league schedule at the semi-final stage, which has been the case in the last two seasons.
This has led to fewer or smaller blanks and doubles than we were once used to – but there’s still plenty of advantages to planning effectively.
