Best FPL premium and mid-priced goalkeepers 2026/27

Goalkeepers are often one of the most overlooked positions in FPL.

Many managers are happy to spend just £4.5m on their main shot-stopper and invest the savings elsewhere.

History has however shown that selecting the right premium goalkeeper can provide a significant advantage over the course of a season, especially when they combine clean sheets, save points and bonus.

Last season, David Raya finished as the top-scoring goalkeeper in the game.

Here are our top selections:

David Raya (£6.0m) - Arsenal

It's difficult to look beyond Raya as the standout goalkeeper in FPL.

Arsenal once again boast the strongest defence in the league and remain favourites to keep the most clean sheets this season.

That alone gives Raya an incredibly high points floor but it's far from the only reason to own him.

He also offers the most secure and cheap route into the Arsenal defence.

As things stand, Gabriel is the only nailed defender for Arsenal and Raya comes in at £2.0m cheaper. Options like Cristhian Mosquera could be more short-term picks.

Unlike many goalkeepers playing behind dominant defences, Raya still produces enough saves to regularly collect bonus points.

The Spaniard picked up 11 bonus points last season, which was the second highest among keepers.

He is the prime example of a set-and-forget option.

Senne Lammens (£5.0m) - Manchester United

Lammens is perhaps the most exciting option in FPL.

United finished last season with the third-best expected goals conceded (xGC) of 47.97, so Lammens looks fine value at £5.0m.

The signings of Andrey Santos (£5.0m) and Youri Tielemans (£6.0m) should mean they improve at the back too.

Lammens may face a slightly higher volume of shots than other mid-priced and premium goalkeepers, creating extra save-point potential alongside clean sheets.

If United continue their defensive improvement, Lammens could prove one of the bargains in the goalkeeper bracket.

The Red Devils also have very favourable opening fixtures against Hull (A) and Ipswich (H) in the first two gameweeks.

Jordan Pickford (£5.5m) - Everton

Pickford continues to deliver season after season.

The Everton goalkeeper remains one of the safest FPL picks because he offers multiple routes to points.

He finished as the fourth highest-scoring goalkeeper (135 points) in the game last season and in each of the previous two seasons registered more than 150 points.

Everton are organised enough to keep regular clean sheets but they also allow enough shots for Pickford to rack up saves.

That combination consistently places him among the highest-scoring goalkeepers in FPL.

The changes to the bonus points system (BPS) could benefit him even further this season.

Goalkeepers now receive additional BPS for saving big chances - and few Premier League keepers are better at producing big saves than Pickford.

He may not have the same clean-sheet ceiling as other keepers at the same price but his save volume gives him one of the highest floors in the game.

Gianluigi Donnarumma (£5.5m) - Manchester City

City's number one also offers a fairly cheap route into one of the best backlines in the league.

Pep Guardiola's sides have always dominated possession, limiting opponents to very few chances. That naturally leads to plenty of clean sheets, even if the goalkeeper isn't especially busy.

City ended last season behind only Arsenal for goals conceded and they are very likely to be among the best defensive sides again.

The only slight concern is that typically, we would want to target City attackers or their attacking defenders and he does take up a valuable spot.

Even so, in isolation he is great value at £5.5m.

Alisson (£5.5m) - Liverpool

Alisson is one of the most experienced goalkeepers in the league.

Liverpool had a poor campaign last season but they still finished with the second best xGC (47.45).

Alisson's exceptional shot-stopping means he rarely goes long without delivering returns.

There is some concern on his fitness though, as he is particularly injury prone for a goalkeeper.

He has not played more than 28 games in a season since 2022/23, when he scored a monstrous 162 points.

He is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and can rack up some big scores.

His ability to make decisive saves in one-on-one situations also makes him a frequent contender for bonus points whenever Liverpool keep a clean sheet.

If he can stay fit, he can easily outscore his price tag.

Best FPL premium and mid-priced goalkeepers: Other options

Caoimhin Kelleher (£5.0m) proved last season that you don't need to play for one of the traditional 'big six' clubs to be a legitimate FPL option.

The Republic of Ireland international finished as the second highest-scoring goalkeeper in FPL, recording 10 clean sheets, 110 saves and three penalty saves.

Those numbers earned him a deserved price rise to £5.0m but he still represents excellent value.

Few goalkeepers have been as reliable over recent seasons as Emiliano Martinez (£5.0m).

The Aston Villa goalkeeper combines excellent shot-stopping with bonus point potential, regularly producing match-winning saves that should do him well under the new bonus system.

James Trafford (£5.0m) is an intriguing option. He is on the verge of a move to Leeds and will firmly be first choice.

On the face of it, he does look overpriced playing for Leeds but he should make plenty of saves and could well end up being a great pick.

Leeds finished the season with eight clean sheets, so if they can improve on that then he has the potential to be a high-ceiling pick.
