Best FPL mid-priced forwards 2026/27

Unlike the budget forward brackets, the mid-priced forward market is surprisingly thin this season.

There is only one real genuinely appealing option, with many strikers either facing uncertainty over minutes, fitness concerns or simply lacking the consistency to justify their price tag.

Joao Pedro (£7.5m) - Chelsea

Pedro looks by far the best option from the mid-priced forwards.

After impressing during his first season at Stamford Bridge, with 15 goals and nine assists, the Brazilian looks set to lead the line for one of the Premier League's strongest attacking sides.

One of Pedro's biggest strengths is his all-round game.

Not only can he score but he also drops deep to link play, creates chances for teammates and consistently gets involved in Chelsea's attacking moves. He can play up top and as the second striker.

He will be absolutely nailed to start too and Chelsea have some decent fixtures to start. In their first six, they play Brighton (H), Hull (H), and Bournemouth (H).

The Blues not having any European commitments is no doubt a big plus for his FPL prospects.

Viktor Gyokeres (£7.5m) - Arsenal

Gyokeres had an underwhelming debut season but still managed a respectable 14 goals in 26 starts.

The Swedish international built a reputation as one of Europe's most prolific strikers but couldn't hit those heights for Arsenal.

He should still be the number-one centre-forward for the Gunners but he is not nailed to start every game, with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus in the picture.

Being surrounded by players such as Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka (£9.5m) and Declan Rice means he should do well enough when on the pitch and he is in the mix for penalty duties.

He does however really need to step up a gear if he wants to hit the heights of his Sporting Lisbon days and secure himself as a nailed first-team starter.

At his price, he isn't terrible value but it's tough to justify his inclusion when his minutes aren't secure.

Jean-Philippe Mateta (£6.5m) - Crystal Palace

Mateta has quietly become one of the Premier League's most reliable forwards over the past three seasons.

His physical presence makes him the focal point of Crystal Palace's attack and he is the first-choice penalty taker when on the pitch.

But the signing of Strand Larsen (£6.0m) last season really dented his appeal.

Although he should still be the preferred number nine - even under new manager Pierre Sage - it's likely he will share minutes with Strand Larsen.

He might end up being the nailed 90 minute man of past seasons but for now there is a lot of uncertainty.

Benjamin Sesko (£7.0m) - Manchester United

Sesko had a good season when you look at his goal ratio.

He scored 11 goals - with many coming from off the bench in his 30 appearances - and if he can nail down a starting spot then he will score plenty of goals.

However his minutes are also not secure with Marcus Rashford (£7.0m) back in the picture and Bryan Mbeumo (£8.0m) also playing up top in pre-season.

He also has a shin injury at present and although it is hoped he will be fit to start the season, it's just another doubt thrown into the mix.

If he was nailed to start, he would be excellent value at his price and he is the only natural number nine at the club, so that's something in his favour at least.

The Slovenian international is a wait and see right now. This could well end up being his breakout season but he's way too risky to start with.

The rest of the mid-priced forwards

Nicolas Jackson (£6.5m) is not an option really with Pedro the clear favoured front man and the signing of Danny Welbeck (£6.0m) also isn't good news for him.

He has also been linked with a move away from the London club.

Omar Marmoush (£7.0m) will find it hard to break into the current Manchester City side and the only way he becomes an option is if Erling Haaland (£15.5m) suffers an injury.

Havertz should get plenty of minutes but he's classified as forward and could play a lot of minutes in midfield. He also has Gyokeres as competition for the forward role.

And of course Hugo Ekitike (£7.5m) is still recovering from his longstanding Achilles injury.
