Best FPL budget forwards 2026/27

Finding value up front has become increasingly important in FPL.

With premium assets such as Erling Haaland commanding a huge chunk of our budget, many managers will be looking for a striker in the £5.0m-£6.0m range who can consistently deliver without breaking the bank.

Fortunately, this season offers several excellent options. Whether you're chasing penalties, nailed minutes or explosive potential, these five forwards stand out from the crowd.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£6.0m) - Leeds

Calvert-Lewin looks fine value at his price.

After scoring 14 Premier League goals in his debut season for Leeds, many expected him to receive a much bigger price rise than the modest increase to £6.0m.

The ex-Everton striker quickly established himself as Leeds' focal point, thriving from crosses and set-pieces while also proving he can consistently convert chances inside the penalty area.

His underlying numbers were also encouraging as he managed an expected goals (xG) of 15.57, the third highest in the league.

As things stand, he is nailed to start and on penalties.

If he can stay fit, it's difficult to see many £6.0m forwards matching his value due to his high expected minutes and penalty duties.

Perhaps just as importantly, Leeds begin the season with an encouraging run of fixtures, giving Calvert-Lewin every opportunity to continue where he left off.

Leeds play Nottingham Forest (A), Brentford (H), Brighton (A), Newcastle (H) and Crystal Palace (H) in their first five.

Dominic Solanke (£6.0m) - Spurs

Solanke feels like he could be underpriced.

Injuries have disrupted much of his time at Spurs but whenever fit, he remained the club's first-choice striker.

Under Roberto De Zerbi, Spurs are expected to play on the front foot, creating plenty of chances for their central striker.

The quality behind him is another reason for optimism.

He is a proven Premier League striker and we shouldn't forget he scored 19 goals for Bournemouth in the 2023/24 season, so he has the potential to make an absolute mockery of his price tag.

The 28-year-old is also expected to be first-choice penalty taker.

There is plenty of room for optimism for Spurs with the amount of quality signings they have made this summer.

There is naturally some fitness risk after last year's injury problems and he has not featured in pre-season yet, so he's one to keep an eye on.

However, if he remains available, £6.0m could prove to be excellent value.

Brian Brobbey (£6.0m) - Sunderland

Brobbey has really staked his claim in the past 12 months.

He scored a decent seven goals and two assists last season while establishing himself as a first-team regular in the second half of the campaign.

The Dutchman also really impressed in the World Cup, scoring three goals.

The Sunderland striker starts the campaign with an attractive fixture run and should lead the line for a side expected to build much of their attack around him.

The Black Cats had an extraordinary season, finishing seventh and qualifying for European football, so they will no doubt improve their squad further.

Brobbey looks a fine option to start the season with, as he comes up against Ipswich (A) and Fulham (H) in the first two.

He's a great option in his own right and the perfect enabler for those planning an early Wildcard.

Igor Jesus (£6.0m) - Nottingham Forest

Igor Jesus could be this season's breakout budget forward.

The Brazilian ended last season strongly, with six goals and six assists, and has carried that momentum into pre-season.

He has already scored four goals in four pre-season games and is doing all the right things to make sure Oliver Glasner trusts him as a first-team regular.

It's very likely Forest will improve under their new manager, who worked wonders at Crystal Palace, and Jesus is likely to be the one to benefit in attack.

Forest also have some appealing games in their first eight for attacking purposes - they play Leeds (H), Spurs (H), Coventry (H) and Ipswich (A).

William Osula (£6.0m) - Newcastle

Osula is another who could well have his breakout year.

Since arriving at Newcastle, he has been a bit-part player but that changed last season.

Competition from Yoane Wissa (£6.0m) and Nick Woltemade (£6.0m) however means the situation is still worth monitoring.

What makes Osula particularly exciting is how he finished last season.

He scored six goals in his final nine Premier League appearances, demonstrating exactly the kind of form that could make him one of the bargains of the campaign.

The Magpies have a really nice run of games after their match against Liverpool (H) in Gameweek 1.

They then go on to play Spurs (A), Bournemouth (H), Leeds (A), Hull (H) and Coventry (A).
