Best £4.5m forwards in FPL

Finding value at the budget end of the forward market has become increasingly difficult in Fantasy Premier League and 2026/27 is perhaps the weakest it's ever looked.

Unlike previous seasons, where a £4.5m striker would often emerge as a regular starter or at least a useful rotation option, there are just 12 forwards priced at £4.5m this year and very few have a realistic chance of starting regularly in the Premier League.

For most managers, the third striker will simply be a bench enabler, allowing funds to be invested elsewhere.

However, there are still a couple of players worth monitoring over the coming weeks, particularly as pre-season progresses and the transfer window unfolds.

Sindre Walle Egeli (£4.5m) - Ipswich

If there is one £4.5m forward capable of surprising this season, it could be Walle Egeli.

Although listed as a forward in FPL, Egeli naturally operates from the wing and arrived at Ipswich as one of the Championship's biggest-ever signings.

That investment alone suggests the club have high hopes for the Norwegian youngster.

The biggest obstacle is competition.

Ipswich have strengthened significantly in the attacking areas this summer, so there's no guarantee Egeli starts immediately.

However, his versatility means he can feature across the frontline and if he earns a regular place, he'll offer considerably more attacking upside than most players at this price.

He's certainly one to monitor throughout pre-season.

Jonah Kusi-Asare - (£4.5m) - Fulham

Kusi-Asare is another exciting young talent, having joined Fulham permanently after an encouraging loan spell from Bayern Munich.

The Swedish striker impressed for Fulham's Under-21s and also made several first-team appearances during his loan, convincing the club to complete a permanent transfer this summer.

Standing at 6ft 5ins, he offers a very different profile to Fulham's other forwards.

From an FPL perspective however, patience is likely to be required.

Fulham appear to view Kusi-Asare as a long-term investment rather than an immediate starter and unless injuries open the door, his Premier League minutes could be limited early in the campaign.

Nevertheless, if he begins featuring regularly during pre-season, he'll quickly become one of the more attractive £4.5m options.

Other £4.5m forwards

Dane Scarlett (£4.5m) spent last season on loan at Scottish side Hibernian, where he only managed one goal in 13 appearances.

The chances of him breaking through to the first team look slim, and he's probably set for another loan spell.

Norman Bassette (£4.5m) was signed by Coventry as a long-term prospect and spent parts of last season out on loan to continue his development.

Coventry already have Haji Wright (£5.5m), Ellis Simms (£5.0m) and Brandon Thomas-Asante (£5.0m) competing for the striker positions, meaning Bassette currently looks some way down the pecking order.

Enis Destan (£4.5m) is one of several Hull forwards available at £4.5m.

The Turkish striker joined Hull permanently last summer and is a traditional number nine, capable of leading the line or operating as a second striker. Again the problem from an FPL perspective is competition.

Like Destan, Mason Burstow (£4.5m) has a route to minutes but faces fierce competition but he's probably the most intriguing.

The former Chelsea striker has now gained valuable Championship experience scoring an impressive 12 goals and six assists in 48 appearances in his loan spell at Bolton.

Chido Obi (£4.5m) is probably the most exciting talent in the entire £4.5m forward bracket.

There is little chance he breaks into the current Manchester United squad - but he might suddenly perk interest if he gets a loan move to another Premier League side.

Unfortunately there isn't any more in serious consideration as it stands.
