Best Chelsea FPL players 2026/27

It’s a season of change for the Blues, with Xabi Alonso taking charge.

Famed for his back three and wing-backs system at former club Bayer Leverkusen, there has been talk over whether the Spaniard would replicate this at Stamford Bridge.

But while it’s early days in pre-season – with multiple new signings and players yet to return from the World Cup – Alonso has stuck with a back four in the opening friendlies.

We won’t have a good idea of their best players until closer to Gameweek 1 but our selections below are based on what we know at the time of writing.

Gameweek 4 against Hull (H) looks an ideal time to introduce Chelsea picks into our FPL teams, so waiting to see how they start the season is a viable plan.

Best Chelsea FPL players 2026/27: Joao Pedro (£7.5m)

Pedro had an excellent first season at Chelsea, becoming their top scorer on 15 goals.

The Brazilian also contributed nine assists, with his goal involvements making him the fourth highest-scoring forward in the game (177).

Starting the season as a potential rotation risk, Pedro firmly established himself as the Blues’ starting striker.

In a season where Cole Palmer struggled, Pedro was the focal point of their attack. None of his teammates could come close to matching his 14.96 expected goals (xG).

He looks favourably priced in this season’s game too, £0.5m cheaper than Ollie Watkins and Igor Thiago.

The signing of Danny Welbeck is of slight concern, with the potential for the former Brighton teammate to eat into his gametime.

But Pedro is certainly in the conversation for taking one of three forward spots in our FPL teams. If his minutes continue to be stable come Gameweek 4, he will be popular in Wildcard teams and transfer plans.

Best Chelsea FPL players 2026/27: Cole Palmer (£9.5m)

Palmer was limited to just 26 league appearances last season and fitness issues seemed to impact his performances.

He scored 10 and assisted two – a reasonable return for most midfielders but underwhelming in comparison to previous campaigns.

The Blues’ penalty taker did not travel to the World Cup, so will have had a full pre-season come Gameweek 1.

FPL managers will be keeping a close eye on whether he starts well ahead of the Hull (H) fixture, where he looks to be one of the best captaincy options.

The transfer of Morgan Rogers introduces the possibility of covering the Chelsea midfield for the same price as Pedro – but it’s another case of ‘wait and see’ on how the ex-Aston Villa man settles.

Best Chelsea FPL players 2026/27: Levi Colwill (£5.0m)

A third Chelsea asset certainly feels like a decision that can wait until Gameweek 4, with Fulham (A), Brighton (H) and Arsenal (A) a tricky opening trio.

This will allow time to see if defensive contributions magnet Maxence Lacroix can keep up the numbers he posted at Crystal Palace and justify his £6.0m price tag.

For now though, despite some strong Hub AI projections for the French international, we think cheaper Chelsea defenders could be a wiser use of funds.

Lacroix’s likely central defensive partner Colwill is £1.0m cheaper.

A serious injury meant he was out until close to the end of last season, meaning there’s limited reliable defensive contributions data for him.

But Colwill did reach the required threshold in his two starts, indicating some potential to keep up with his more expensive teammates.

If he does, FPL managers will be keen to save the £1.0m and spread funds around their squads.
